TMD stands for temporomandibular disorder, a problem with the jaw joint (often called the TMJ) or the muscles that move it. TMD treatment addresses pain in the jaw area that can interfere with biting, chewing, and getting through your day comfortably.
Signs of TMD can include a sore or tired jaw, pain in front of the ear, headaches, clicking or popping when you open your mouth, and a jaw that feels stiff or hard to open wide. Clenching or grinding your teeth can add to the strain.
At your visit, Dr. Motson looks at your teeth, bite, and jaw joint to find what is causing the pain, and digital x-rays give a clear picture of your teeth and jaws. She explains what she finds and talks through your treatment options with you before anything is done.
